Joe Tietz, Solbrekk Sr. Network Engineer
Experience
Joe has been in the IT industry for over 15 years. He has managed and worked on networks of various sizes and complexity. He has been a consultant for some time now, but has years of experience as a network administrator and IT manager. His expertise includes Novell to Microsoft migrations, VMware, Exchange, and active directory design. Joe also has experience in Novell products, networking with HP, Cisco, RSA, and WatchGuard.
With Solbrekk, Joe has done both large-scale and small-scale upgrades and installations of VMware, and VMware View. He has been the lead engineer on a number of large Novell to Microsoft migrations for customers with 200 users up to 1,500+ users. The projects included Exchange and active directory design.
Prior to joining Solbrekk, Joe was Sr. Network Administrator for a large law firm with over 200 servers and 5 locations, and he was Lead Network Manager for a regional airline with 250 users in 20 locations across the US and Mexico.
Qualifications
Joe has his VCP and VTSP certifications from VMware. When it comes to VMware projects, he wants to make sure that not only is the design, implementation, and support done correctly, he also wants to make sure the IT managers and CIO fully understand what they are getting for a return on investment. He is currently working on new VMware master certifications for vCap-DCD, vCap-DCA, and VCDX.
He also has extensive knowledge of Quest migration tools used for Novell to Microsoft migrations and Exchange and active directory design. His focus has always best practice and what is the best design and fit for each customer.
Other areas of experience are VMware, VMware View, ThinApp, Windows 7 migrations with VMware, SRM/BCC, Windows Server, Exchange Server, Windows Desktop, Hyper-V, RSA, Citrix, Active Directory admin & design, WatchGuard, HP servers, and HP networking.
Fun Facts
Joe is not only a die-hard Twins and Vikings fan, he is an avid softball player and Texas hold’em player. He also enjoys taking a break from it all and spending time with his wonderful wife and two boys.
